Radiation is nothing new. Our bodies are bombareded every day with varying amounts of radiation from different sources. Also, with the recent events in Japan, that amount of radiation exposure for some of us has increased, and will remain high for a while. Even if you aren’t in the higher exposure areas, there are some simple measures that you can take to minimize radiation damage, and set yourself up to deal with radiation better, should something like the radiation cloud from Japan ever hit your city.
1. Be healthy. Healthier bodies always have a better chance of dealing with issues like radiation successfully. Being healthy includes things like eating clean food, being properly hydrated, and making sure your body is properly nourished (Magnesium, Vitamin D3, etc.).
2. Eat iodine rich foods to protect your thyroid. Your thyroid is vital to your health and life (not to mention your wasteline). Iodine rich foods like seafood can help protect it from the effects of radiation.
3. Make sure your liver is healthy. The liver is your detoxification general in the body. This includes detoxifying radiation in the body. To support your liver, drink plenty of water, take a good multivitamin, and eat plenty of protein. You can also support it with supplements like Alpha-Lipoic Acid (good for every day use) and Milk Thistle (good for special detoxification needs).
4. Take a Spirulina or Green Drink Supplement. Spirulina has been shown in to be beneficial for those exposed to radiation in Russian studies. These can be commonly found in capsule form, and green drinks everywhere. They are also usually packed with antioxidants which will help with health in general.
The above are just a few simple things that can be done to both prevent radiation damage, and help the body recover from an exposure. Take care of your body, and it will take care of you.
